Clearing the decks

Much as I love to deck the halls at Christmas time I am afraid that I simply cannot help but itch to clear it all away again at about one minute past Boxing Day.

But I resist for as long as possible.

And then I strike. It feels so good to take them down and pack them away. Cleansing perhaps. The rooms feel brighter and bigger, I feel lighter.

I'm doing mine tomorrow... on the 6th January... as per tradition. Gotta give those kings the chance to reach baby Jesus. One of the kings has been decapitated... hope baby Jesus won't get too frightened.

I feel the same about much of it, except for the fairy lights on the kitchen mantel - I hate packing them away! And the front door wreath - it's as fresh as on its first day, so it will hang, minus its Christmas ribbon, in the back yard till it's ready for the compost heap.

I didn't last as long as you... everything came down on Sunday morning. And it felt so good!

It works every time that extra space trick.

I always find little traces a few days after - a forgotten bauble under the sofa where the cats batted it.

I have the same "light feeling" after putting away everything. I must admit, I am getting into spring cleaning already.

Enjoy the free space and time!

Though I've always been a bit embarrassed to admit it, I do love packing it all away. The apartment just feels so much lighter and brighter.
