Sunday, Sunday

Sunday is always one of my favourite days, we rarely stray far from home and start the day with a full English (or in our case an Ulster/Welsh) breakfast, cooked by the lovely Technical Advisor. At some point we try to fit in a long walk to work off that breakfast and usually are Sunday walks are leisurely and rambling and usually include collecting something along the way, the blackberries are now exhausted but last week we filled tubs of sloes which are now happily wallowing in bottles of gin, we rarely return home without a good selection of sticks, children need a lot of sticks it would seem.

We always have a large Sunday dinner, roast beef is a favourite mainly because of the accompanying Yorkshire puddings, Dylan in particular loves Yorkshire puddings and every dinner in between is a poor second while he counts down the time to his next Yorkshire pudding. At this time of year desert is normally apple crumble, apple pie, apple cake, stuffed apples, you get idea.....With three apple trees in the garden it would be rude not to! The arrival of desert on the table is normally accompanied by "not apples again" but everyone manages a second helping.

This Sunday I have a little treat, the Technical Advisor has gallantly taken the children swimming allowing me a little time to drink tea, nibble cake (apple of course) and blog, thank you Technical Advisor.

The bag is finished and I like the results. I love this combination of fabrics, the grey is from a length of grey woollen fabric picked up in a charity shop for peanuts, it feels lovely and soft and the colour really lends itself to embellishing. I already have another bag planned for myself, this time more of a squashy handbag, I am toying with embroidery but I'm not sure I am over the felt flowers yet.....

What a wonderful Sunday! Your descriptions made me smile and feel warm all over - growing up, we always had cooked breakfasts on a weekend, and big Sunday roasts (almost always chicken, though - with Yorkshire puds no matter what!), and we had six apple trees in the garden (three cookers and three eaters), so it was apples all year round for us! I remember well my brothers complaining over 'more apples', but I don't remember ever getting sick of them myself... I adore those flowers - and the sketch of the bag-to-come! I look forward to it with great anticipation!

The bag is lovely! Now I have a question: what are sloes? Usually at my house we don't have much time for breakfast together. But when we go to the cottage, we cook up a breakfast feast. Bacon, eggs, home fries, coffee, toast made from homemade bread. And we eat it about 9 a.m., in our pjs.

What a perfect Sunday. Your bag is gorgeous, I have a little drawing for a bag just like your next one,but my piece of fabric is a kind of lilacy velvet.
I love grey wool with nice pink, I have some pinstripe suiting to do some pink embroidery on.
We have yorkshires with every meat, there is mutiny within the troops if we don't!!

Wow if I ever find myself in Wales on a Sunday I shall know where to come! Just thinking about cooked breakfasts, roast beef and yorkshires makes my tummy rumble! Beautiful bag too. I really like the shape and the flowers. They really seem to echo the tones of grey on the bag.

What a lovely sunday you have, I love it, too, it´s the only day in the week where there is no hurry, no cleaning, no duties. And I envy you for still having sunny or warm autumn days, here it is so cold and grey and always raining now.
And I love your bag, the colour combo is fantastic, and the flowers are beautiful, very cute. Are they filled inside, they are looking so 'round' and three-dimensional.
Can´t wait to see your next bag, your drawing looks enticing.

Pretty bag, and I cant wait to see the squashy bag too. I love the Denim cardigan, it looks fantastic, and you will definately have to post with the receiver wearing it to show us all how good it looks being worn. I love the patterns in the book, but I am sure that such a big project is one of those where you need to make a few little projects in between.

all that sunday dinner lark usually means a lot of work in the kitchen - so well done to ...someone? BUT ... I am very impressed with your 'ideas' book - what a terrific record of what you want to make and/or have made. I wish I was so disciplined - I am a very bad artist, but that is no excuse! I think I must follow your example and have a try. The bag is lovely by the way - and charity shop finds are thrilling are they not!

I will gladly take the apple desserts off your hands! :-)

I really like the bag you've got in the works; I've been wanting to make something similar. The colors look great!
