Evidentially

Now I realise that reaching 40 is something of a milestone but as I mentioned before, I really don't feel so very old and therefore I was little surprised by my recent absent minded behaviour.

You see, there have been several times lately when I have been to the shops and bought butter. At least, I certainly meant to buy butter, it was on my list and I was almost quite certain that I bought it but whilst putting away the shopping it became apparent that there was no butter.

It happened again.

On the third occasion, I knew I had bought butter, I thought consciously about the act as I placed it in my trolley, I knew there could be no mistake. I arrived home and began to carry the bags indoors, of course the phone rang and distracted me briefly, I finished the call and returned outside for the final bag.

The evidence would seem to suggest that I may not have forgotten the butter previously. The thief is quite ashamed. He retreated beneath the table to show his regret. Whilst licking his lips.

Does he claim that he only does it to keep his coat in top shape?

Excellent story, I know someone who had the same thing happen with loaves of bread. Great photos, you'd be forgiven for thinking they have feelings of guilt!

Paper and all, eh? At least he has the good grace to look suitably guilty.

Hee hee! I have the same with a certain cat and the butter, but she doesn't ever look guilty and ashamed!

He's not really sorry; he's just sorry that he got caught. :)

At one time when we had a cat, we wondered at the odd markings on the top of the butter cubes. Imagine our surprise to find that the imprints exactly matched our kitty's tongue!

Cute story and cuter photos!

heehee!
We had a dog that loved butter as well, but as she was a beagle she never felt the need to be guilty. :)

Your butter thief is so handsome!

Happy birthday to you. I have just turned 65, and assure you that my memory might skip a bit, but truly stills just about everything in a tight grip.

Cheers!
Ooooohhhhh the little minx - though peace of mind that you are not losing your marbles.

He does look verrrry sorry for himself though.

you got off lightly - the most demure and innocent-looking of our cats has always been a terrible thief. She once jumped onto a high shelf where I had hidden half a pound of butter, knocked it to the floor where our spaniel ate it then threw up on the sofa - it had to go (the sofa not the spaniel)

We had a dog who once ate 10 jars of homemade jam. He was high as a kite for days. More annoyingly, we had two cats who would open the fridge and help themselves to our food. And cats never look ashamed !

I wish that I could eat a block of butter without feeling sick! I was going to say guilty, too, but maybe he's a bit guilty?

Is there anything that can look as guilty as a dog who has been caught?
