Definitely better to have both playing brass than to have one on brass and the other on violin!

My sympathies -- my girls play trumpet and bassoon, so I have some fair idea of what it sounds like at your house! Bassoon, even played well, sounds like a lonesome moose, looking for love in all the wrong places... And then, some days, they also play alto sax and fluegelhorn. I actually quite like the fluegelhorn.

Is it odd that my elder daughter named her trumpet and fluegelhorn after the Weasley twins (Fred and George)?

Lovely indeed. Even lovelier than my next door neighbour's 10-year old who plays the same Scott Joplin rag with...er... attack.... on either piano or flute. At 8 in the morning.

I thank my lucky stars every day for a drum kit with headphones.
The little one starts the dulcimer next week. I don't think it's too noisy....

My son plays the baritone, so I know what you mean. Thank goodness, he mostly practices in school these days :) But it all pays off when they play all together in the band, then they really make music :)
