Vanity demands

I love having soft, shiny blow-dried hair.

For about three days.

Every six weeks or so.

Because no matter what my vanity demands, I simply have not the patience or skill to achieve shiny, bouncy hair at home.

My natural curls are left to their own devices and travel through each day on a wing and a prayer (though no amount of praying will help my hair on high humidity days).

But every six weeks or so, I visit the hairdresser (for reasons of greyness) and the most wonderful junior wrestles my hair into silky submission. I walk out feeling rather like one of my childhood heroes - a Charlie's Angel.

Once in a while, when I get a haircut, I beg the hairdresser to blow mine out straight. I spend the rest of the day swishing it and thinking elegant thoughts. But the following morning the curls are always back.

Your hair is the most beautiful colour. So glad you captured a soft and shiny day on film.
You have lovely hair, I could never have mine that long as it's way too fine and always looks like rats tails beyond a certain point.
I recently became reacquainted with my old schaeffer fountain pen and am delighting in filling in my 2012 diary. Happy days ..

Your hair looks lovely. I've always wanted curls! I have fine, dead straight hair, which in recent years I have worn shortish. I'd love a "tousled" look, but it always falls back into place..boring!!!

Banishing greyness and feeling swishy are two very good reasons for feeling good. Your hair's a beautiful colour so I definately wouldn't want the grey creeping in, something I work hard at keeping at bay too.

Oh, you are a funny lady, and these photos show that you are quite naturally lovely.

Get your hair stylist to take a photo next time and I bet that we will like today's photos just as well.

Happy New Year!

For issues of greyness? I have to colour my hair every 2 weeks for those reasons otherwise I look like a tabby cat. For reasons of frequency and penury I have to do it myself. I'm not sure I would trust a salon, they seem to leave people stranded and waiting about for things. It's not surprising that people have allergies and hair fall out when the product is left on for too long as I am sure it frequently is. Whenever I go for a hair cut there is always someone looking rather nervously in waiting until their time comes. Sometimes they are too busy - cutting my hair for instance to go and wash product off someone else. So even if I could afford it I'm not sure I would!

I used to love my hair being blow dried but I have very thick hair and it takes them a very long time. So these days it never seems to happen quite as beautifully as it used to as they seem to be more hurried and presured for time. I prefer a half way house between straight and wavy but I do hate it pulled poker straight as it seems to lose life. My daughter has very straight hair naturally but it never looks flat and dull. I also hate straightners for the same reason - horrid things!

I have naturally curly hair too but mine is fine and there's not much of it...yours looks lovely and from what I've seen on photos looks lovely in it's natural state...
Nice colour too.
I am currently growing my colour out to go 'grey'

Hello you! Love going to get my hair primped. Makes me feel special! And don't we all have a bit of Charlie's angel in us?
That is definitely one of life's pleasures - I always end up singing 'like you just stepped out of a salon' to myself all day! enjoy the bouncy hair. it's so nice to see you featuring yourself in your blog at last! nice pic!

Funny how we always want what we don't have. I would LOVE to have wild curly hair instead of the very straight, smooth locks nature gave me.

How lovely is it to have hair washed at the hairdresser - to get it squeaky clean and conditioned to the very roots. x
