Ding dong the Denim is dead!

Yes, yes, yes, it is finito, knitted, sewn, out of my life. Hurrah, hurrah, hear me sing from the roof tops. I finally finished that darned knit, 16 buttons!! The Technical Advisor seems pleased, although what will he moan about now? I am in heaven as I can now knit without guilt again, one sleeve left to do on Betty and I am eagerly browsing pattern books again.

The yarn is Rowan Denim, and the pattern is from Rowan People. It has been a never ending knit...... I had to make the extra large size and it was a lot of stocking stitch. To tell the truth it is a good pattern, the details are lovely and well planned but I didn't really enjoy using the Denim and there being so much of it and all that. There are some other really lovely patterns in this book, several that I fancy for myself but it will be a long time before I cast on for any of them. The Technical Advisor promises some model shots later in the week, he just needs to get his hair done first....

This week is our half-term so we have been busy with some of this.

And collecting lots of these.

Oh, well done! That is no mean feat. I can't imagine knitting something like that for my 6ft2 OH. Shivers down my spine. But you have done a wonderful job. Cripes - imagine if, after it was finished, he didn't ever wear it. No, don't even think about it.....

Looking forward to seeing it "on".

CONGRATULATIONS! I "Yay"ed out loud when I saw the photo - what a big job!

I can't get over how green it is there! We're grey and brown and freezing, without much snow yet to cover everything up. Looks like you had a fun outdoors adventure, though. :0)

That looks lovely. Lots of needle clicking to get that done.

That's a lot of stockinette stitch, good for you for finishing it. And the nut with the spiny shell, is it a chestnut? We have lots of horse chestnuts here, but you can't eat them. Children (and adults like me) collect them and put them in their pockets.

That looks fantastic. I can imagine your relief at having that all completed and finished to such a high standard. Bet you it will be well worth the effort.

Wow that was some project - but I am sure will be worth it as it will no doubt get a lot of wear. Rowan denim is great stuff and wears like iron!

oooh! I love that picture! I think our autumn will be drowned: they predict rain here for the next 5 days!

Congratulations on the Denim.

Looks like you have still great autumnal weather. We have sun over here again as well, but it has gotten pretty cold since we changed the clock to winter time on the weekend. Funny coincidence, isn't it?

Congratulations for this very well done knitting - I don´t like sewing buttons either. (I am glad that my husband don´t like knitted sweaters, although your cardi looks like it is worth the pain - and I am sure he will love it)
Just want to say how much I like your blog. I came here via Yarnstorm and last night I browsed through your archive and read a lot and enjoyed it alot.

I'm sure the denim will be fabulous once the model's grooming is complete :0)

I can never believe how much longer you have to knit it - so much so that the first denim sweater I knitted for my DH I only knitted to normal sweater length and when it was washed it became a crop top. Which he manfully wore at least once - it was the 80's after all !

Great to see the denim finished, and it was nice to read about the pots, too!
