Happy thoughts

I have been feeling inexplicably sad of late, I have been keeping it at bay for some time but just lately it has been overwhelming me a little, actually it feels sort of good just to write this, helps a little. As part of trying to put the sadness back in its box I am looking for happy things in each day, some days it feels hard but trying to find things to feel sunny about helps, it really does.

These photographs, taken a few weeks ago, are my happy thing for today. The little raglan cardigan, the one with the cursed sewn on button band, finished (extremely long sleeves and all!) and modelled.

Some weeks ago the Saturday edition of the Guardian featured images of celebrities jumping, I am afraid the name of the photographer escapes me for the moment, but the images were fun. This is our version, Miss Tilly in her celebrity style shades and giving it everything. Happiness indeed.

The cardigan was a Sirdar pattern, I cannot for the life of me find what I have done with the thing but if anyone is desperate for the pattern number then do let me know and I will forage further. Obviously if I made this again I would not knit the button band separately because life is just too short, and I would make the sleeves a little shorter, these particular Sirdar models must have had very long arms! I used Debbie Bliss DK Merino which was lovely to work with and seems to be wearing very well, I am growing more and more fond of Debbie Bliss yarns and will certainly use this one again, it is perfect for children's knits.

I'm sorry you're feeling blue. I think we all have our days from time to time. Miss Tilly could not be cuter. I love your outdoor photos, and the cardigan came out great.

Sending warm thoughts your way...

These photos are full of sunshine!

After my youngest child was born, I really struggled with sadness and "the blues". I found it helpful to keep a Thankful Journal. Each day, I wrote 3 things I was thankful for. Some days, I admit, my things were kind of pathetic, but they still helped keep my mind where it needed to be. :0) It can be tough when these feelings linger, but hang in there. It will get better!

Tilly looks adorable as always! I'm sorry you're feeling low--I applaud your quest for finding happiness in each day. Sometimes it is hard...
You'll find no inspiration with me--I just spent monday night on the verge of tears (I refused to full on cry!) watching my baby Ruby graduate from high school...Its too bad we live so far away: a chat and a cup of tea would be nice, wouldn't it?

Those photo's are wonderful - Tilly looks great. Low days are the worst, aren't they... its a good idea to find the happy things for each day.
Just watching Springwatch, and they are showing Ladybirds mating, and it made me giggle.
Hope it lifts soon - best wishes.

How sweet Tilly is in her pink cardigan!
The lighting is always so great for photos from the UK.
I know the sad feeling well these days.
I did have two small but unexpected good things happen lately that made me feel the universe was indeed still with me, rather than against. It's good to notice the little things, especially sunshine and bouncing little girls!
Remember, this too shall pass...

Tilly looks so cute in her cardigan! I hope that your blues soon pass. If you can't shake it on your own, don't hesitate to seek help. Hope you feel better soon.

I love the photos, and I love the cardigan!! I'd like to offer yet more sympathy for feeling 'low' and some cyber-hugs, too, if you like. :) We *do* all have our days to feel like this - but, if I may suggest, if they become weeks, or months, do seek professional advice. Feeling 'down' can be an illness like any other, and all kinds of things *can* be done if it does not fade on its own.
Tilly looks so happy in her pink cardigan, pink shoes and those chic pink shades! I have my down and sad days too, and usually a hug from my kids make me feel so much better. Kind of funny because they don't even know that they're being such a comfort. I hope that you're finding cheery things in your day today and that things will get better, they always do.

I am so sorry you are feeling sad. You are so creative and you are a wonderful creator of family. One day you will be able to look back with modest pride on the wonderful childhood you created for your children with time still for you to be the creator of great works. To be happy and bouyant every day is probably too much to ask. To be sad for a time means that one day the sun will rise and you will notice it. Hang on in there.

I am sorry that your having a low time. I know all about depression and feeling down, although I never know when I am going to feel like that at any certain time. Having those wonderful photos though does help make you feel better, because she is just so gorgeous. The little cardigan looks so sweet too.

First of all Rebecca, Miss Tilly is adorable!! The cardigan is beautiful and the photography rocks! Is that somewhere at your home? Beautiful! I understand the sewn on buttonband thing, I just completed one of those as well. Sorry to hear you've been feeling down lately. I hope that passes quickly for you.

I've never commented before but yours is my favorite blog. I check it first and just love your knitting, your garden, your kids, your dog. I love your dog. You should post more pictures of the dog!

I've been knitting since January, and I am completely, overwhelmingly lost in it. It's bizzare. I've always quilted and crocheted and done needlepoint but just in the corners of my life. This knitting thing is taking over. I've finished 2 kids sweaters (hooded, front center pocketed raglan wallabies) for my boys, a huge scarf, a pair of socks and a bamboo camisol for me, since January when I first lifted needles. I've got at least 7 projects on the needles now.

I find inspiration where I can, but tend not to write much yet because I'm a newbie. But Tilly looks great and her sweater looks wonderful and I just wanted to tell you I love your blog.
