Accepting defeat

The cold that has been nudging me for a week or more finally came out on top. And with such a shout.

I would swear blind that this is my worst cold ever but then I a
m pretty sure I said that about last year's cold. My nose runs continually when not blocked and I shiver and ache.

I have given in, you know you are really ill when you put a hat on your head to walk to the school bus stop at 8am and find you are quite unable to even contemplate removing that cosy, nursing hat when indoors, even hours later.

It's OK though, I am going to roll with it. The cushions are plumped and inviting and there is a blanket with my name on it. I have a fresh box of tissues.

I have a good book or two should my eyes refuse to close.

My feet are warm in knitted socks (Colinette Jitterbug, in case you were wondering).

And I have good company. One who oozes sincere sympathy and joins me on the sofa in order to willingly play the part of a hot-water bottle.

And another who still feels a hat on the head signifies a brisk hike to the woods at any point but will resign himself to a light chair nap if I really insist.

oh dear, I do hope you feel better soon. Aren't dogs wonderful substitute hot water bottles? Take care!

Oh I hope you feel better very, very soon. I've just recovered from my cold, and it did entail days on the sofa covered in blankets with cups of tea and a good book. I just wish I'd had such a sweet canine companion!

Join the club. We seem to be the house of walking wounded and ill right now. Not much fun. I felt too miserable to even read or knit, and just watched endless television in between snoozing. Hope you feel better soon!

Poor you! I am literally just recovering after being knocked sideways by a flu/cold bug for the past two weeks. I made the mistake of trying to soldier on through, I'm sure your tactics will ensure a swift recovery!

I hope you feel better soon, colds are so misery-making. You are reading two of the same books as me, by the way! Keep cosy and get well soon. Helen x

Hoping that you'll be shedding that miserable cold soon. Lots of rest, liquids, warmth will speed the recovery, and it looks as if you have got all those around you.

Best wishes!

Oh dear, much sympathy to you! My cold has gone, but any exertion makes me as weak as a kitten. Rest, rest, rest.....

I do hope you feel better soon. I like your recuperation plan... I have a sneaking feeling I am going to have to adopt something similar in the next few days.

I am liking the sound of your doggy hot water bottle.
On a positive note...at least now you won't be getting a cold over Christmas;-)

Sorry to hear you are poorly. Sounds like you have all the ingredients for a speedy recovery though. Mind you, with such lovely and cozy surroundings, perhaps I wouldn't want to get better, just to have an excuse to stay cuddled up with a pup hot-water bottle...

Feel better soon. I've been fighting off a cold too, but I think it's winning.

Oh how I loved that Decca Mitford book. What a woman eh? An inspiration. A fantastic read for a bad bound day.

Oh I'm glad you're feeling better - shivering? Not good. Perhaps it was the other thing (not a cold).

Those Puffin postcards look seriously enticing. I'd struggle to use them though - I'd want to keep them all in their box and get them out and look at them. I think I'd want to make postcard-y mosaics on the floor.
