Today

I can hear the kettle whistle loud and clear, only the gentle hum of Radio 4 to accompany its urgent screech.

Once the lunches were made, the bags packed, breakfasts eaten and buses caught I returned to this quiet house.

I contemplated silence and the settling into a new-old routine once more.

As with each new term come my mixed feelings of peace and sadness.

For a little while I played Jenga with the minature Green & Blacks and photographed their tiny charms whilst considering which should accompany my quiet coffee. Hazelnut won out. Easing myself into 2012.

Happy New Year to all of you. May it be kind and gentle upon us all.

OH what a beautiful calming post in-amongst all the rush and dash of the new year.. you inspired me to change the radio station, turn off the iron and just sit for a few minutes... did you really only eat ONE of those chocolates? :)x

A happy New Year to you too, Rebecca. Green and Black's is hard to beat - especially those tiny bars. My snack of choice to soothe the slight sadness at the silence was peanut butter and quince jelly on toast. A new one for me. delicious.

Yes, I'm feeling the same way. Trying to ease back into the daily routine after the detour of the holidays. Enjoy your Green and Black's!!

My quiet day hits tomorrow - today is still a scramble of lost pieces of PE kit and trying to get organised.

Lovely post, quietly easing into 2012! It's very quiet here today, but dog and I have been given a reprieve from solitude for one more day as my son had a bad migraine last night and was too washed out to go to school this morning.
I went back to the office after 2 weeks' leave and it was nice and quiet too :) I have been eating ferrero rocher and kit kats. Your green and black chocs look cute and I'm sure they tasted good.
Happy New Year!

Peace has descended here too, if you discount howling gales and dogs barking at every last thing that flies past in the wind. I'd be eating some soothing Green and Blacks too, except a thieving husband would seem to have located my secret stash, and eaten it all!

Happy New Year Rebecca :D

And a happy new year to you too.

I must admit to rather liking the quiet of the new year. The optimistic planning. I even like the bare cleanness after the decorations are taken down. I like the excitement but I like the old routine too.

Happy New Year. :)

All I can hear is the wind blustering outside. It's as bad here as it is in the UK. Makes the house feel cosier though!

I'd like to congratulate you on your restraint. I fear, had it been me, there would have been no contemplating over which little treat to accompAny my tea -- all of them would have been winners! ;-D

When I mentioned on my recent post how blogs that I love all have a personality, your blog is a classic example. I love it here so much. Your posts are always so peaceful -- your photos so gorgeous! Thanks for your gentle urging to savor the moments!
