Domestic bliss

The much needed half-term has finally arrived and the children have colonized the sitting room with tiny Sylvanians and all the associated plastic detritus. It seems that whilst I skimmed the top off the ironing pile this morning a Sylvanian city was being built.

As they grow older these moments of happy play together become less frequent. So I am tiptoeing around and biting my tongue. I know it will not last forever and moments like these are precious.

In the interest of honesty, lest you picture scenes of total childhood domestic bliss, I must tell you that the Sylvanian hotel has been transformed into an orphanage/borstal and Power Team soldiers have been employed as a sort mercenary army.

The sight of a Power Team plastic SAS soldier pointing his rifle at a Sylvanian bunny is certainly not suitable photographic blog fodder.

So for your viewing pleasure I give you chocolate and raspberry muffins. Over the years I have often made muffins enhanced by raspberries or chocolate but never the two together.

Until I read this Silver Pebble post. And yes, I kicked myself firmly on the shin for having failed so far to pair the two because raspberries and chocolate are such perfect partners.

Chocolate & Raspberry muffins. A revelation. If you haven't tried them I suggest you give yourself a good sharp kick and head straight to the kitchen.

I would have loved to see pictures of Sylvanian Utopia transformed into a military dictatorship!

My son changed the names of his two goldfish when he reached his teens. Overnight, they went from Fish and Chips to Chaos and Disorder....

I agree with Rachel's idea.

Loving that they will still choose ooperative, imaginative play - even if their chosen world is a dystopia; I bet they're planning a happy ending.

Mine are outside filming a series of 'death by misadventure' clips. We're already covered falling off the climbing frame and death in motorcycle crash. Now Parachute Splat is in progress.
Hey, as long as they are happy, eh.
Banana bread is baking in the oven. I love half term.

The Sylvanians fought a long battle against the Playmobilians here ... trust me, it was bloody. If only I'd had such yummy sounding muffins to eat the whole affair might have been less traumatic!

The Playmobilians won by the way and the Sylvanians were banished to the outlands of the attic. Thinking about it they might still be there!

I laughed at the Sylvanian borstal- I used to wonder if it was only my children whose games of HappyLand would end in some huge disaster and carnage!!!!
The muffins sound scrummy:)

When the head of one of my daughters' Barbies fell off, my older girl decided to teach the younger some French history and named the poor dolly Guillotine Barbie! And then there was the time my boys took the Barbies and sewed parachutes for them...
We have vampire and shark wars here at the moment with the loss of four (naturally) front teeth - middle daughter - and our eldest being a little bit too keen on Jaws!

Some days all you can do is bite your tongue.

In our house we have a HappyLand fairy named "Vomiter" because all she does is vomit everywhere with accompanying sound effects.

Those muffins looks divine!

Last week it was all about the zhu zhu pets. They were transported, lock, stock and electronic hamster house, all the way to Dorset. They even received their own hand-drawn valentines.

So glad you liked that muffin combination.

BTW, the iPhone case is in daily use.
