New wheels

Today I went to my knitting morning, a glorious giggle of a morning, with the loveliest of companions, a morning that I don't always make these days due to my increasing workload but when I do get there I am always so very pleased I took the time.

On leaving I popped up the high street to post some parcels and decided to have a very quick glance into my favourite charity shop - The Hadleigh Thrift Shop. I've had some good stuff from here and lost out, due to procrastination, on even better.

Today there was no procrastinating.

As I walked up the street and saw the wicker shopper my heart began to beat faster. Really?

Surely not?

Who would give such a thing away?

Practically running, I reached the shop front and saw that it was indeed for sale. At a steal. Now you really would have laughed to see me, I glanced around furtively anxious to leave it for even a second, worried that the shoppers previously passing by without even noticing this beauty would suddenly notice my interest and stampede.

I checked my purse, relief, there was enough cash, no need to find a machine. My heart kept pounding until the deal was done.

And then I skipped back down the street wheeling my wicker delight behind me.

It may be noteworthy to mention that as I am not within walking distance of any shops, a non-foldable shopping trolley may not be the wisest of buys. But I am sure you will agree that I would have been mad to leave it behind.

I'm green with envy -- it's gorgeous! I think I'd go on a walk just to wheel it behind me!

My mum had a wicker trolley for years. It was brilliant for carrying all that heavy shopping home and so stylish too.

Fabulous! You are a lucky girl.
I laughed at your description of being anxious once you found it. I have the same response. We would be dead giveaways at auctions!
I hope it fits with ease in the boot of the car.

You have no idea how envious I am right now. Even if you stick flowers in it, it is absolutely fabulous!!! Enjoy.

I have a mini wicker basket on wheels from my childhood which even now I occasionally wheel around my bedroom then put it away....what a delightful find, I can see why you couldn't leave it behind.

I think I too would have bought it!
Can't resist a wicker basket, and one on wheels... wooooo!

Like you, it would be completely impractical but I'd find a use for it.

With an absolute huge big grin on my face I agree completely - no madness needed. It's a beauty.

It is a thing of beauty AND practical and it has wheels for goodness sake! You did completely the right thing and even if you don't use it very often you can look at it all the time.

My sister bought me one 25 years ago and I use it every week day on my journey to school. They are amazing - enjoy!

I'm sure there will be MANY uses for it around the house.
I would have snapped it up too :) Now I wonder what you will do with it. So many possibilities ...

Top trolley! Sometimes it is wise to let the heart rule the head. Who cares if you have to shoehorn it into the car!

That is the most gorgeous thing I have seen on the internet all week. I have been scouring ebay for something similar and there is nothing so beautiful. I am filling it with shopping and flowers and vicariously trundling it along behind me :)
I love this old style but I aso love the funky new designs in brixton market that now seem so in.
