The answer is 42

The answer to "The Ultimate Question Of Life, The Universe, And Everything".

Why it is 42, of course.

So this should be a very good year I think.

I am rather looking forward to it, the best thing about being 42 is that I am so very far away from my next significant birthday and therefore feel positively young for someone in her forties.

Tilly and I worked together on the cake.  I chose the recipe and would not be persuaded of any other option.

At 42 you know what you like when it comes to cake.

Actually, in my book, this may be The Ultimate Cake, the cake to rule all others.

Raspberry Mascarpone Layer Cake.  The answer to everything.  Recipe from the excellent Gorgeous Cakes (Gorgeous Series)

Incidentally, it's about twenty-five years since I first listened to The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, I recall that the radio series was a marvellous distraction whilst revising for exams and having re-listened recently I still found it as fresh and quirky as the first time around.  My listening peaked Dylan's interest and he has been galloping his way through the books .

Happy Birthday! Your cake looks so yummy. 42 is the perfect age, still young and beautiful but old enough to know your own mind and stand your ground. 42 IS the answer!

You're six months ahead of me... And you know the best bit about being 42? Your children are getting to an age where they start to enjoy things that you remember vividly yourself. Such as reading the Hitchhiker's books. Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday! Great looking cake. Enjoy being 42. As someone who is 9 years older, I think it seems incredibly young now. But as someone who also has an August birthday, I think it's the best month for birthdays.

42 is a good age - I'll be joining you in December. I loved the books when I discovered them as a teenager.

That cake looks wonderful - anything with raspberries is a winner as far as I'm concerned. That book *may* have found its way onto my wish list.

It's been said that one's body regenerates its cells every seven years. So if you think about it, you have a brand new set of cells to start this year off. A brand new you. Can't beat those odds for a terrific year.

The cake looks divine. And the raspberries on top are so pretty. Happy birthday.
Very nice, thanks for sharing.

Happy Birthday, Rebecca! Although that particular year is now lost for me in the dim and distant, archived and cobwebbed, past, I still vaguely remember 42 as A Good Age to be! 42 is the new 28...or something like that....

Happy belated birthday! I'm older than you, just had my birthday the other day, and we bought the cake: I'm old enough to know that I dislike baking my own cake, with or without my kids' help. :)
i am so sorry i missed your birthday!
happy happy birthday... and the sweetest of years to YOU!
xx
Lovely cake for this lovely blog. Belated cheers for your 42 years of existence. I'm a new visitor.
