Silver Silk

The shrug was finished some weeks ago and contrary to my initial doubts about the shade and whether or not it would actually go with anything in my wardrobe it turns out it has become an essential part of my wardrobe.

Turns out it goes beautifully with several of my favourite dresses.

I do love this silk and this project was a dream to knit. Very quick and satisfying, the pattern came from the Erika Knight Classic book. I made the UK size 10 and there were no alterations necessary. I used Debbie Bliss Silk which was lovely to work with and I think I used 5 skeins (I say think because I have one after and am assuming I bought the 6 suggested in the pattern, but you never quite know for sure with me, I am easily distracted when in a yarn shop). The fully fashioned shaping is lovely and I may very well make another in the ripped Debbie Bliss silk from last year's disaster knit.

This shrug is on my list since I saw it in the book, so it is nice to hear it´s a quick and easy knit. Your colour is lovely, I love this basic non-colours a lot, they match with nearly everything. And by the way - your dresses are worth a special post I think, they are wonderful!
The shrug looks beautiful. I'm a first time visitor to your blog. I love the hats and dresses you have made. You are very talented.

Oh, it's so beautiful and I love all the dresses you've paired it with, they remind me of Megan Park. When the book came out, I wasn't impressed at first, thinking most of the designs simple and a bit boring (thinking "I don't need patterns for that, I can make that up myself"). But I kept looking at them and fell in love with them all. Now I'm knitting the deep-v sweater, and put that shrug on my list too, along with the Kelly cardi. And maybe some of the jackets, and.....
It's so beautiful on you. Fits perfectly, lovely colour and drape. And I love your hair too!

The shrug is beautiful. I have looked at the pattern several times and am now convinced I have to make on. I love your dress with the sequins too - dreamy.

Thanks for your comment about the mother-in-law. I know I should let it wash over me - she's been like this for 24 years, you think I would have learnt by now!

It's really lovely and looks great on you - especially with such fab wellies. The top photo looks like it could have been taken at the Chelsea Flower Show...

I love this shrug and it does have a nice fit. A lot of shrug patterns look like they are cutting off underarm circulation - not a good look!
You look very romantic in your garden.
I love the beaded dress.

The shrug is lovely... she asks herself cautiously if there would be time to knit one before Woolfest...
but I am rather rounder than you are, so not sure if would make me look like a mushroom with a large "cap" and a skinny stalk?

That's a lovely shrug. I've contemplated making that one since receiving the book from my SP10 but I've already made a very similar one by Jo Sharp. How do you keep the fronts of yours from flapping out? Mine sits very nicely on my boobs as long as I stay still as a statue but as soon as I move the fronts flap open in a very unflattering way.
