Sunday evening in Suffolk

The sun stayed late and warmed our skin as we sat outside and gazed across the wheat field.  We slowly sipped wine and laughed at the antics of the trampolining children.

The evening sunlight rendered the ordinary more beautiful, tenfold.  Summer nights like these have been few and far between this year and we soaked up every second.

From the crooked red tiled rooftops,

to the cricket whites on the line.

The air heavy with the scent of honeysuckle and rose.

Dogs made playful by the cooling day.

The last golden rays of sunlight crept indoors and warmed the corners of our lives.

That's exactly how summer evenings should be, in my mind. There have been precious few - I am hoping for a bonanza Indian Summer.

I can feel my shoulders relaxing as I look at these pictures. We need a few of those evenings here too.

You had sun? I thought this blanket of grey wet was lying over us all. I'm trying to remember what it feels like to be warm and your lovely photos have helped a bit.

Gorgeous photos - shame these nights are few and far between. Perhaps the summer weather is waiting until mid July to come in time for the school holidays? #wishfulthinking?

Such a tranquil post. I can hear the accompanying sound track as I read your words ... laughter, evening bird song, the breeze in the trees. Lets hope there are some sunny days to come :D
